AHDB - make sure you have your say on its future!
3rd Oct 2018 / By Alistair Driver
The NPA is urging members to take this unique opportunity to have your say on the future of AHDB.
Defra recently put out a request for views as part of a review that will consider the levy body’s role after we leave the EU.
A quick online survey is available at: https://consult.defra.gov.uk/farming/views-on-ahdb
The Request for Views, which will run until midnight on November 9, will seek input on AHDB’s purposes, services, levy payer representation, governance and levy funding systems. “In the context of the challenges and opportunities presented by the UK’s exit from the EU, now is a good time to hear views about AHDB’s role going forward,” Defra said.
Defra is currently running stakeholder meetings to give interested parties the opportunity to have their say. The next one is in Bristol on Friday, October 8.
NPA chairman Richard Lister, who attended the event in York on Friday, said: “This really is a unique opportunity for pig farmers and people across the supply chain to have a say and influence how our levy money is spent after we leave the EU.
“We know there are some things AHDB does well. But are its priorities right? Have they got the right people in place? Does it currently deliver value for your business? What could it change to deliver better value for your business and the wider pig industry?
“I have heard that there have been relatively few responses from the pig sector so far. But there is still time to get those comments in, so to anyone reading this, please click on the link above and feed in your thoughts. Other people will, so it is imperative that the pig industry pushes it weight.
“There will be no point complaining about AHDB in future if you haven’t had your say now!”
