A third wise man from the East(ern region)

29th Dec 2017 / By Alistair Driver

The eastern region has its third candidate for the NPA's New Year elections, after another existing Producer Group (PG) member threw his hat into the ring.

Simon GuiseSimon Guise works for Rattlerow Farms, managing farms and an AI stud, as well as involvement with breeding stock sales, and has been involved in the industry for 30 years. During that time, the NPA has developed into 'one of the strongest, most effective lobbying organisations in United Kingdom agriculture, and is recognised as such by Government and other agencies,' Simon says in his manifesto, which can be viewed in full here.

"I have really enjoyed my first term on Producer Group and if elected, I am keen to ensure NPA members continue to receive excellent representation, also ensuring value for the AHDB levy, and involvement in Westminster decision-making are at the heart of this representation," he adds.

Simon's nomination means there are now 11 candidates for the poll to elect the new 12-strong PG, with more expected to declare soon once their nominations have been validated. The Allied Industry Group (AIG) still has its nose in front with 13 candidates standing, so far, to be whittled down to 10 for the next three-year term.

There is still time to nominate, but the January 8 deadline for PG and AIG is fast approaching. To nominate, and view full election rules, plus the run down of the 24 candidates so far AND a detailed history of NPA... click here

Online voting begins on January 22.
