Autumn Regional reminder - East Anglia meeting on Tuesday

8th Oct 2018 / By Alistair Driver

The NPA's Autumn Regional meeting will take place in Diss on Tuesday night, October 9, with a focus on tail biting.

NPA logoThe event will take place at Diss RFC, Bellrope Lane IP22 5RG. Tea, coffee and a hot buffet meal will be available on arrival at 6.30pm, with the meeting due to run from 7pm to approximately 9.30pm.

The meeting will begin with the usual update from the NPA team covering the topical issues affecting the pig industry, including Brexit, African Swine Fever and Red Tractor’s marketing campaign. This will be followed by a market update by Bethan Wilkins from AHDB’s Market Intelligence.

The main presentation of the evening will cover tail docking. There is currently increased enforcement of legislation relating to tail docking, with some producers already being penalised for routine docking and provision of environmental enrichment under the spotlight. The NPA team will explain the changes that are expected and will offer advice on how best to ensure you are compliant. Rattlerow will also share their experiences of managing pigs with intact tails.

NPA East Anglia chair Simon Guise said: "As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along.  Your views are also very important in helping the national Producer Group formulate policy on your behalf."

This year NPA will be running a one hour surgery prior to the start of the meeting, from 5:30-6:30pm, during which time members can book a one-to-one slot with NPA staff should you wish to discuss something specific with them.

You can book a time slot by speaking to Andrea. Also, please indicate your attendance by contacting Andrea, by email or telephone 02476 858780.
