BVA speaks out against Trump travel ban

30th Jan 2017 / By Alistair Driver

The British Veterinary Association (BVA) has spoken out over US President Donald Trump’s travel ban, after a UK vet was caught up in it.

Glasgow-based vet, Dr Hamaseh Tayari, who holds an Iranian passport, was prevented from flying to the US, as a stop-over on the way home from a holiday in Costa Rica.

BVA President, Gudrun Ravetz stated the organisation’s support for vets across the globe 'regardless of where they come from', pointing out that over half of the vets registering to practise in the UK in 2014/15 were non-UK graduates.
