Could sausage roll tribute be Christmas Number One?

18th Dec 2018 / By Alistair Driver

A song paying tribute to sausage rolls is in contention to be the Christmas number one.

LadBaby

YouTube ‘dad blogger’ LadBaby is vying with the likes of Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey for the coveted festive top spot with his unique cover of Starship’s ‘We Built This City’.

'We Built This City on Sausage Rolls’ has become a viral hit, with proceeds from the single going to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust. It is at Number 2 in the midweek charts.

LadBaby, real name is Mark Hoyle, has racked up millions of views on his YouTube channel and has beeb named Celebrity Dad of the Year. He said he was hoping to get the track to the top spot as a present to his long-suffering wife Roxanne, who features in his YouTube clips.

He told OfficialCharts.com: “Who would have thought it? A sausage roll song being sung by a Nottingham lad would be sitting at Number 2 in the Official midweek Singles Chart?! What a fantastic achievement and great start.

“But let’s not stop there!! Let’s pinch that Number 1 spot from the global mega stars, eat our own body weight in sausage rolls AND most importantly raise even more money to support the amazing UK food banks charity Trussell Trust this Christmas!”

Let’s help him do it!
