21st Aug 2017 / By Alistair Driver
You have until Friday to submit nominations for the 2017 David Black Award, considered to be the pig industry’s highest honour.
The David Black Award, sponsored by AHDB Pork, is presented every year to somebody who has made a valuable and sustained contribution to the industry. Previous winners have come from a variety of backgrounds including production, academia, journalism, allied industries and processing.
Last year's winner was leading Animal and Plant Health Agency vet Dr Susanna Williamson (pictured at the awards event), who the judges said had 'made a significant and lasting contribution to the British pig industry'.
Launching nominationsn in May, AHDB Pork strategy director Mick Sloyan said: “The David Black Award is the highest honour the pig industry can bestow and we need the industry’s help to find a worthy recipient of this year’s award.”
The winner will be chosen by a panel of independent judges and will be presented at an industry breakfast in the autumn.
The deadline for nominations is this Friday, August 25, and nominations can be made through the AHDB Pork website here
