Diary dates - NPA spring Regional Meetings coming up

21st Mar 2018 / By Alistair Driver

It might not feel like spring yet... but the NPA's spring Regional Meetings are just a few weeks away.

NPA logoThe first of four regional meetings, the South West event, will be held on Tuesday April 10, at Exeter Racecourse, from 6.30pm – 9.30pm.

The meeting will kick off with the NPA team who will provide updates on key issues, including Brexit, with just a year to go now until we leave the EU, and how the proposed changes to pig welfare policy might impact on members.

This will be followed by a market update on t by Duncan Wyatt from AHDB’s Market Intelligence team.  Then Georgina Crayford, NPA’s senior policy adviser, will present her findings from her Nuffield Farming Scholarship travels. Having visited pig farms and vets in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Canada and Australia she will highlight what she believes the pig industry needs to do in order to improve pig health and reduce reliance on antibiotics.

South West regional chairman Andrew Freemantle said: "As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along. Your views are also very important in helping the national Producer Group formulate policy on your behalf."

The event starts with a buffet at 6.30pm, before the meeting gets underway at 7pm.
