Hope for the next generation - another candidate throws hat in the ring

19th Dec 2017 / By Alistair Driver

The latest producer to put themselves forward for election is Sophie Hope, who wants to fly the flag for the next generation.

Sophie HopeSophie runs a mixed farming business in Gloucestershire with a 380-sow farrow-to-finish unit, alongside 81,000 broiler breeders and a few subsidiary enterprises. She has represented the South West on Producer Group for the past three years - and, impressed by what PG does, she wants another go.

"I always marvel at the diversity and breadth of what NPA achieves," Sophie said. "NPA is critical to safeguarding the future of our industry and I believe it is important for the next generation to step up to the plate to help drive the sector forwards, so guaranteeing we have a successful and sustainable industry indefinitely."

You can read her manifesto here on the dedicated NPA election website

Sophie's entry takes the number of PG nominations up to to seven, with more expected to be confirmed before Christmas.

If you are thinking standing, you need to act quickly. Nominations close on January 8. To nominate yourself, go to votenpa.co.uk for online entry forms and rules.

PG nominations need to be supported by two current NPA producer members - a proposer and a seconder. AIG nominations need to be supported by two current NPA allied industry members.

To be validated, election addresses and head and shoulders pictures must be supplied with nominations.
