IfA workshop to explore antibiotic issue

12th Jun 2018 / By Alistair Driver

Innovation in Agriculture (IfA) is hosting a free workshop this month to explain what antibiotic resistance actually means and why there is a demand on the industry to reduce the use of antibiotics in livestock.

The workshop, which is taking place on Friday, June 29, will highlight the reduction targets that have been set for the pig sector, and provide attendees with practical and achievable tip that can help to prevent disease, save time and money on your farm. There will also be a tour of the farm.

The workshop will focus on three key areas:

  • Antibiotics: The different classes of antibiotics and which ones are classified as critically important;
  • Biosecurity: Pig flow, water sanitation, disposal of dead animals etc; and
  • Pig Health: How Helen Browning has managed to stamp out pig health problems.

The event is taking place on June 29 from 10am-2pm at Eastbrook Farm, Cues Lane, Bishopstone, Swindon, SN6 8PW. The workshop is free to attend, although places are limited, so booking is essential. Lunch will be provided at Helen Browning’s Royal Oak Pub.
