Andrea voted in as new LIPs vice chair

The NPA's Andrea Tranter has been voted in as a new vice chair for Ladies in Pigs (LIPs).
In a very closely contested vote as LIPs held their annual AGM on March 31, Andrea was elected to replace long term vice chair Rita Wells. She will be working alongside chairwoman Debbie Wilson and Susannah Gimson who was re-elected as vice chair.
Andrea said: “I am excited to take up the role and I'm looking forward to working with the team and helping to shape the future of LIPS.
"I'd like to thank Rita for all the help and support she has given LIPS as vice chair over the years. Rita remains an important part of the LIPs executive team in making decisions about the work the ladies do."
The work LIPs does is vital in educating consumers young and old about the benefits of eating British Red Tractor Pork, and teaching children about where their food comes from.
"This is something I feel is very important and wish had been around when I was in school," Andrea added.
The team is excited to finally being able to get back mobile kitchen Rosie moving again and start doing some shows over the summer, along with some planned school events. Watch out for details on social media and the LIPs website.
LIPs are funded by sponsorship primarily by AHDB Pork and that funding is currently under discussion, with a decision is hopefully imminent.
Debbie will be presenting to the Pork Board in May about the progress the organisation has made.
Andrea added: "We are always looking for new sponsors to help us be able to reach more people at more shows and to further our education plan."
