Just Farmers offers free comms training to pig producers

12th Feb 2020 / By Alistair Driver

Pig farmers willing to talk openly to the media about how they farm are being invited to apply for four days of free communications training.

Just FarmersJust Farmers runs practical media education workshops for small and diverse groups of farmers and growers. The course looks at understanding the media, storytelling and story pitching, interview skills and creating your own content for social media, such as filming vlogs on a smartphone.

The aim is to boost confidence, break down barriers and build relationships between farmers and members of the mainstream media.

Project founder, journalist and broadcaster Anna Jones, said: “We’ve had some fantastic pig farmers from all over the UK go through our workshops – and they’ve all loved it.

"The idea of working with the media can be a bit scary – and the pig industry has had a tough time in recent years. But this is a great opportunity to be on the front foot and learn something new in a really friendly environment.”

Successful applicants will attend two workshops, each two days long, in Bristol at the end of March and in Staffordshire in July (dates TBC).
