Karro picks up prestigious food and drink awards

Karro Food Group, the country’s biggest supplier of British pork into the retail, trade and foodservice industries, has won two prestigious awards for business growth.
The pork processor (its management team is pictured) was named the winner in the Northern England Regional Business Growth category at the Food and Drink Federation Awards 2016.
At an awards ceremony in London, it was the announced as the overall UK Business Growth winner, beating leading industry winners from other regions to the title.
Karro, is a relatively new business, launched as a privately owned company in January 2013 following the purchase of Vion Food Group’s UK pork division by private equity company Endless.
Based at Malton, in North Yorkshire, and built on longstanding foundation, it is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of pork products to the retail, foodservice and export markets.
Employing over 3,000 people, it has eight divisions in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland and an annual turnover of £528m.
FDF highlighted the company’s full supply chain visibility and its reputation for high welfare pork produce. Karro was also recognised for it ‘exceptional growth over recent years’, moving from an underperforming company to delivering strong growth and profits on a consistent basis ahead of target.
The FDF awards, hosted by TV presenter and comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli, are the food and drink industry’s benchmark of excellence for innovation, competitiveness and talent.
Di Walker, Executive Chair of Karro Food Group, said the awards were a fitting recognition of the hard work of everybody across the business.
