24th May 2019 / By Alistair Driver
The first ever NPA podcast is now available to listen to and download!
The NPA will be producing regular podcasts to keep members informed about the hot topics affecting the pig industry today.
This first edition is available here: https://soundcloud.com/user-35676878/npa-spring-regional-meetings-podcast-review
It covers the key points raised during the NPA recent series of regional meetings.
Ed Barker, who put the podcast together, discusses the latest situation with Brexit and the prospects of leaving without a deal in the autumn.
Zoe Davies gives an update on the global African swine fever situation. She explains why the NPA has launched its #MuckFreeTruck campaign and stresses the importance of biosecurity, particularly lorry washing, as ASF and other diseases pose a threat to the viability of the UK pig industry.
“Good biosecurity is absolutely crucial and there is no point getting good at it once the disease is in the country. We have to get good at it now,” she says.
Lizzie Wilson gives an update on the environmental challenges facing producers as the Government looks to improve air quality and introduce new controls on emissions. She also discusses issues around planning.
Ed said: “Podcasts are increasingly popular way to catch up with fast-moving events affecting you and your businesses. There will be more where this came from. Enjoy!”
