AHDB Pork chairman Meryl Ward has issued a message of support for well-know pig industry consultant Gerry Brent, who sadly lost his wife in an accident this week.
Meryl said: "Our concern and sympathy go out to Gerry Brent today after his wife, Judy, was tragically killed in a car accident yesterday afternoon.
"Gerry has had a lifetime of achievement, supported by Judy, in a national and international consultancy career.
"I have been privileged to meet Judy on many occasions– a lovely kind lady and mother who will be terribly missed. Our thoughts are with Gerry and his family."
Nick White, a former colleague and long-time friend of Gerry added his 'heartfelt condolences to Gerry and his family on their tragic loss'.
Nick said: "When we also lived in Lincolnshire at the time that Gerry and I both worked for Cotswold, we became good friends with Gerry and Judy and have since regularly kept in touch with news of family, grandchildren, etc.
"Gerry and Judy were married for over fifty years and were a close couple, and I know that Gerry is totally distraught. Many people in the industry will know Gerry, but few will have had the privilege to meet his supportive wife – a lovely lady who will be sadly missed by all those who knew her."
NPA chairman Richard Lister added: "Gerry is a great stalwart of the industry. All of us at NPA are deeply saddened by his loss and send our heartfelt condolences and best wishes to Gerry and his family."
NPA chief executive Zoe Davies has posted a message on behalf of the association on the forum.
