Mike Williamson - 'a big man with a big heart'

18th Apr 2017 / By Alistair Driver

Tribute has been paid to Mike Williamson, described as a 'big man with a big heart', who passed away on Saturday, April 15.

Mike worked for the Cotswold Pig Development Company and, although he has been out of the industry for some years he will be remembered by many within it.

NPA vice chairman Richard Longthorp said: "People will be saddened to hear of the passing of Mike Williamson, who died on Saturday, April 15.

"Mike will be remembered as a big man with a big heart. As broad as the proverbial barn door, enthusiasm for all things porcine was ingrained into every inch of his not inconsiderable frame.

"Without Mike’s unconditional enthusiasm I am sure there would be many of us producing pigs today who wouldn’t otherwise be doing so.

"The pig industry’s thoughts are with Mike’s family and friends at this sad time."

In the late 1990s, Mike worked as the outdoor development manager for the Cotswold Pig Development Company, which was taken over by JSR in 2002.
