NPA eastern autumn regional diary date

24th Sep 2018 / By Alistair Driver

If it's not in your diary already... the NPA's eastern autumn regional meeting will be held in Diss on Tuesday, October 9.

NPA logoThe meeting will start at 6:30pm (ending at approximately 9.30pm) at Diss RFC, Bellrope Lane, IP22 5RG.

The NPA will again be running a one hour surgery prior to the start of the meeting, from 5:30-6:30pm, during which time members can book a one-to-one slot with NPA staff should you wish to discuss something specific with them. You can book a time slot by speaking to Andrea (details below).

The meeting will then begin with an update from the NPA team covering the top matters of interest including Brexit, African Swine Fever and Red Tractor’s marketing campaign. This will be followed by an update on the market by Bethan Wilkins from AHDB’s Market Intelligence.

One of the main focuses  of this year's autumn regionals will be tail docking. Increased enforcement of legislation relating to tail docking and provision of environmental enrichment is in the pipeline and some producers are already being penalised for routine docking. The NPA team will explain the changes that are expected and will offer advice on how best to ensure you are compliant. Rattlerow will also share their experiences of managing pigs with intact tails.

NPA regional chairman Simon Guise said: "As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along.  Your views are also very important in helping the national Producer Group formulate policy on your behalf."

Please indicate your attendance by contacting Andrea, by email or telephone 02476 858780.
