New Red Tractor eMB-Pigs requirement comes into force

10th Nov 2017 / By Alistair Driver

A significant Red Tractor rule change comes into force tomorrow.

embFrom November 11, all Red Tractor pork members will need to have entered data from the second and third quarters of 2017 onto the eMB-Pigs database.

Under changes to scheme rules announced earlier this year, producers are required to upload total antibiotic use to the electronic medicine book on a quarterly basis within six weeks of the end of each quarter.

Red Tractor assessors will need to view the data during inspection visits, so where producers rely on their vet or other third party to enter the data, they are reminded to keep a printed copy available on farm.

Red Tractor initially proposed a four-weel turnaround but following lobby from the NPA producer group, it eventually agreed to a six-week turnaround to allow more time to get good quality data onto the system.
