Pig farmer Flavian Obiero will join her as the vice-chair of the organisation that brings young people from across the pig sector together as a forum for discussion and networking.

They were appointed by the NPA, following an interview process involving a number of excellent candidates and will now be responsible for spearheading YNPA’s strategy and activities over the next year.

They replace Essex producer Jack Bosworth and HIPRA’s Jonathan McKechnie, who step down from their roles as YNPA vice-chairs.

Samantha, who is based in Scotland, said: “I am absolutely honoured to be the new Chair of the YNPA, and I just hope that I can help to continue on the great work that has already been done – thank you for having me!”

Flavian, who recently took on a new role on a pig farm in Hampshire, said: “I'd like to thank the NPA for giving me the opportunity to be vice chair of the YNPA. I look forward to getting stuck in and giving my all for our wonderful industry.”

NPA senior policy adviser Charlie Dewhirst: “We are delighted to announce two dynamic young industry figures to lead YNPA through the next stage of its development. We believe YNPA has an important role in nurturing young talent across our industry.

“Congratulations to both, and many thanks and best wishes also to Jack and Jon for their commitment, enthusiasm and during a very tough time for everyone involved in pigs.”
