Nominations for the David Black Award are open

Nominations are open for the prestigious David Black Award, considered to be the pig industry’s highest honour.

The David Black Award, sponsored by AHDB Pork, is presented every year to somebody who has made a valuable and sustained contribution to the industry. Previous winners have come from a variety of backgrounds including production, academia, journalism, allied industries and processing.

Last year's winner was leading Animal and Plant Health Agency vet Dr Susanna Williamson, who the judges said had 'made a significant and lasting contribution to the British pig industry'.

AHDB Pork Strategy Director Mick Sloyan said: “Every year we look to reward an individual or organisation that has gone that extra mile for the pig industry. Over the years there have been many people who fit that description.

“The David Black Award is the highest honour the pig industry can bestow and we need the industry’s help to find a worthy recipient of this year’s award.”

The winner will be chosen by a panel of independent judges and will be presented at an industry breakfast in the autumn.
