Pig industry to benefit from two Nuffield scholarships

18th Oct 2016 / By Alistair Driver

The pig industry will have the benefit of the work of two Nuffield scholars, the Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust has revealed.

As we have already announced, the NPA's senior policy adviser Georgina Crayford has been awarded a scholarship to look at strategies to change farmer behaviour regarding antibiotic use on farm. Georgina is being supported by AHDB Pork.

In addition, Hugh Sheddon, from Yorkshire, has been awarded a scholarship to look at ‘Utilising precision technology in the UK pig industry to enhance profitability and sustainability’. He is doing so with support of the Yorkshire Agriculture Society.

The pair will be officially awarded their Scholarships at the Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust Annual Conference in Newcastle next month.

NPA chief executive Zoe Davies congratulated Georgina and Hugh on their scholarships, which she said were well deserved and will make a positive contribution to the pig industry.

The Trust has announced 19 new scholars in total.
