Red Tractor renews search for new pork board chair

Red Tractor Assurance is resuming its search for a new chairman of the pig sector board. 

Red Tractor logo 3Mike Sheldon, who had already served a three year term, agreed to stay on in the role for one more year in November 2018, after Red Tractor failed to appoint a replacement following a recruitment process.

But the search is now on again to find an autumn replacement.

This role is a part-time position remunerated on the basis of approximately 25 days per year. 

Key responsibilities include 'ensuring the effective functioning and continued development of the Red Tractor Assurance Pigs Scheme and its standards'. The candidate will also need to show they can 'lead the sector such that it contributes to the Red Tractor vision and purpose'.

"The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, able to bring together diverse interests and establish clear strategies for the Sector. Board, Senior Management or Industry Leadership experience together with an excellent knowledge of the pork industry is required," the advert states.
