10th Oct 2016 / By Alistair Driver
The South Central NPA regional meeting will take place at Newbury Rugby Club tonight (Monday, October 10).
The meeting will cover a range of topics currently very relevant to the pig industry.
The NPA team will provide updates on the association’s Brexit strategy, which was published yesterday and forwarded to Defra Secretary Andrea Leadsom.
There will be updates on the industry’s response to demands to reduce antibiotic usage, the ongoing problems posed by animal rights activists, planning issues and the latest on African swine fever and wild boar.
Regional NPA members will also hear a market update from AHDB Pork’s Stephen Howarth and Vikki Campbell and a presentation on improving herd health from Rob Davies, of the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).
The meeting will take place from 6.30pm until 9.30pm on Monday, October 10, at Newbury Rugby Club, Monk’s Lane, Newbury, RG14 7RW.
NPA South Central region hairman Charlie Allen said: As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along. Your views are also very important in helping the national Producer Group formulate policy on your behalf.”
