Reminder - South Central regional meeting tonight

4th Apr 2017 / By Alistair Driver

NPA members in the South Central region are urged to come along to the spring regional meeting tonight.

The meeting will take place at Newbury Rugby Club (RG14 7RW), starting with a hot buffet at 6.30pm.

NPA staff will update members on the key topics of the day, including Brexit, the likely zinc oxide ban and new antibiotic targets due to be agreed between industry and Government over the summer.

The NPA has just started a consultation on those targets and is keen to hear industry views during the regional meetings.

NPA chairman Richard Lister said: "Getting these targets right is absolutely critical for our sector, which is why we are going to consult as widely as possible within the NPA membership, so as an industry, we can come to a figure that is challenging but achievable. This is is too important to leave to someone else."

Tonight's Newbury meeting will also hear a market update from AHDB Pork's Mick Sloyan, while the guest speaker will be Chris Padfield, a Nuffield scholar.

The first of the four spring regionals took place in York last week. The remaining events are:

  • East: April 11, 6pm, Diss RFC, IP22 5RG. Guest speaker Sandra Edwards
  • South West: April 25, 6.30pm, Gypsy Hill Hotel, Exeter EX1 3RN. Guest speaker James Morrish, Kivells Auctioneers.
