South West Spring regional reminder
15th Apr 2019 / By Alistair Driver
The South West Spring Regional meeting takes place at Exeter racecourse on Wednesday evening.
The third out of four spring meetings will begin with a buffetat 6.30pm, with the meeting proper starting at 7pm.
The NPA staff will provide their usual updates on the hot topics affecting the industry, including African swine fever, tail biting, Red Tractor, environmental regulation - and, of course, Brexit. Ed Barker will outline what the delay could mean for the pig sector.
Given the ongoing uncertainty, we have invited speakers from the market research and banking sectors to help try to offer a little clarity and reassurance where possible. Adrian Matthews, Food and Farming Consultant from Savills will provide an overview of agriculture in 2019, and the wider trends that producers will want to be aware of.
Paul Blundell, Agriculture Relationship Director at HSBC, who will give an update on views from the agricultural banking sector.
Bethan Wilkins from AHDB’s Market Intelligence team will update the meeting on the latest market moves, including the impact of China's increased import demand, and discuss the likely impact of various Brexit scenarios on the industry.
The NPA will be running the usual one hour surgery prior to the start of the meeting, from 5:30-6:30pm, during which time members can book a one-to-one slot with NPA staff should you wish to discuss something specific with them.
NPA South West region chairman Andrew Freemantle said: "As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along. Your views are also very important in helping the national Producer Group and the NPA team formulate policy on your behalf."
Please let us know if you intend to come by emailing email@example.com or telephone on 02476 858780.
