"We must stand up as farmers and back the NPA team"
30th Dec 2017 / By Alistair Driver
With just over a week to go until nominations close, there are now 12 candidates for the 12 places up for grabs in the NPA's Producer Group election.
The latest confirmed nomination is Sally Stockings, who currently represents the South Central region on PG. She becomes the second candidate from that region to put her name forward for election when voting commences on January 22.
Sally owns the Fawley Farms and Stockcroft businesses and says she has 'a great vested interest in the pig industry from farrow to finish and beyond'. She also works with independent farmers who finish anything from 300 to 6,000 pigs on farm sites in the south of England, the west country and Wales.
"We are lucky to have the NPA, which lobbies Government tirelessly on our behalf. We are so fortunate to have excellent people running the NPA. Their political and environmental knowledge is exemplary. However, there are times when we must stand up as the farmers and give them our backing. I would like to be given the opportunity to do so," Sally writes in her manifesto, which can be viewed here
The Allied Industry Group (AIG) still has its nose in front, just, with 13 candidates standing so far.
There is still time to nominate, but the January 8 deadline for PG and AIG is fast approaching. To nominate, and view full election rules, plus the run down of the 24 candidates so far AND a detailed history of NPA... click here
