Yellow Wellies publishes guidance for students for working safely on farms
1st Apr 2020 / By Alistair Driver
The Yellow Wellies foundation has published fresh guidance, targeted at students, to encourage them to work safely on farms at this difficult time.
You can view the advice, much of which is applicable to all farmers, here.
The document notes that, with colleges now closed, some students will be called to work on farm, helping family, friends and neighbours, who may be old or vulnerable or may have contracted coronavirus themselves. It aims to provide useful safety reminders to ensure students have the best chance of 'staying safe, working well and coming back to college to finish studies'.
In this context, the document provides comprehensive advice on working with machinery, transport, working at height, working with livestock and overhead power lines.
It also provides advice on minimising the risks of catching coronavirus and useful emergency and support contact numbers.
