NPA welcomes new senior policy adviser to the team

20th Jun 2024 / By Alistair Driver

The NPA is pleased to announce Tom Haynes as a new addition to the team.

Tom Haynes NPATom, who previously worked in roles across Westminster, joins as a senior policy adviser, replacing Charlie Dewhirst, who has left the NPA to stand for election as an MP.

Tom will lead the NPA’s Public Affairs and government engagement work. He joins the NPA having spent a number of years working for a large Public Affairs agency, where he specialised in advising clients on how to navigate the parliamentary process and engage with policymakers, both in Westminster and in the Devolved Administrations.

Tom has led successful campaigns for numerous organisations and has extensive policy experience that covers a wide range of areas, including agriculture, animal welfare, the environment and international trade.

Prior to this, Tom worked in Parliament for Conservative MPs, including for Victoria Prentis during her time as Farming Minister, providing advice on policy, legislation and parliamentary procedure, as well as supporting with industry engagement.

NPA chief executive Lizzie Wilson said: “We are really pleased to have Tom on board. His experience and knowledge of how Westminster operates will be absolutely critical in the post-election period. He is going to be a great asset to the NPA team and wider industry.”

Tom said: “I am delighted to be starting out on a new role with the NPA, which I know has a great reputation for representing its members’ interests.

“There will be a lot to get to grips with, particularly as whoever wins the election sets out their new policies. I look forward to getting to know the industry and to meeting members over the coming weeks and months.”
