Roadhogs teams up with Allen Farming Group for training initiative

29th Nov 2021 / By Alistair Driver

Roadhogs Recruitment has teamed up with Oxfordshire-based pig producers, Allen Farming Group (AFFG), to create an on-the-job training scheme for entry-level pig stockpeople of all ages looking to enter the pig industry.

Roadhogs AllenThe scheme reflects both companies' desire to help invest in the future of the industry, as farming and food sectors struggle with recruitment.

Over the course of a year, chosen candidates will work across all sections of the AFFG pig business, which covers most types of pig production. The aim is for entry-level pig stockperson to gain valuable pig experience to take forward into careers with future pig farms.

A skills matrix has been developed for each section across the units. AFFG will manage this in conjunction with Pig Pro, the training and development web-based tool designed by AHDB for the pig industry.

The on-the-job Training Scheme will run for a year across AFFG sites in indoor units in Dorset and outdoor units in West Sussex.

This scheme is a fully paid placement with accommodation provided, if required, managed by Roadhogs, with the opportunity of employment within the AFFG, once the course has successfully been completed.

Entry-level applicants of all ages will be considered.
