Tulip secures Co-op premium sausage contract

11th Jun 2019 / By Alistair Driver

Tulip has won a new contract to supply the Co-op with 'top-tier' fresh sausages.

CoopThe Co-op has awarded Tulip a contract to supply nine all-year-round product lines from September 2019, strengthening the long-term agreement the retailer and the processor entered into in April 2018.

The Co-op moved to 100% British outdoor British pork products last summer. Tulip said the new contract consolidates its long-term support of Co-op’s commitment to give shoppers greater access to top quality, higher welfare pork products sourced from UK RSPCA-assured farms.

Adrian Prior, category trading manager at Co-op, said: “Co-op is delighted to further build its relationship with Tulip as they support us with our premium sausage range. Extending our long-term strategic partnership will enable us to work with them on developing sales of this important category.”

Zoe Bruce, Tulip's Co-op customer director, added: “Our partnership with Co-op is a model of the way we like to work with our customers – sharing knowledge and championing innovation to help both parties grow.

"We are very much looking forward to bringing our traditional craftmanship and passion for great tasting food to Co-op’s premium own brand sausage offering, which form part of Co-op’s commitment to supplying shoppers with 100% British higher welfare RSPCA-approved pork products.”

Andrew Cracknell, appointed as Tulip CEO last year to turn the business around, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Co-op have made the decision to award us with their premium sausage business, demonstrating our strong strategic partnership.

"This is a vote of confidence in our ability to deliver and comes at a time when we are proactively developing our fresh sausage operations with new investment.”
