2024 animal health and welfare grant scheme to open soon

Applications for the next round of animal health and welfare grants in England are expected to open soon.

Defra has now published fresh guidance on its website to give interested farmers an opportunity to see at what is on offer.

Under the scheme, farmers can apply for grants of between £1,000 and £25,000 for 50% of the cost of various items from the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2024. 

There are various items available for pig farmers, including electronic pig weighing and sorting facilities, slatted floor inserts, curtain systems, enrichment toys and more. You can view the full list HERE.  

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told the recent NFU conference that around £220 million will be injected into FETF in the current financial year, up from £91m last year.
