The risk to the pig industry from exotic and emerging diseases such as African swine fever, porcine epidemic diarrhoea (PED) and swine dysentery is ever present, and while biosecurity isn’t exciting, it’s our best defence.

Join our pig clubs this autumn to find out how a high-health, nucleus pig herd keeps disease out.

This will include video footage from both indoor and outdoor units to show biosecurity options across different systems. While not everything will be applicable to your situation, there will be ideas that you can take back to implement on your own unit – be it indoor or outdoor – to help keep diseases, such as African swine fever (ASF) and porcine epidemic diarrhoea (PED), out.

We’ll be looking at some of the resources available to help you keep disease out of your farm. Also, we will update you on the work we’re doing with the NPA to raise awareness of the importance of good biosecurity to both the pig industry and the wider public.

The meeting will, of course, also be a great opportunity to catch up with other pig producers in the region over a drink and meal.

Speakers

  • Sebastian Casiro, Technical Services Manager UK, PIC
  • Lauren Dimmack, Senior Animal Health & Welfare Scientist, AHDB
  • Rebecca Veale, Senior Policy Adviser, NPA
