Join the EPP - an opportunity to network and learn more about European pig production

9th Aug 2023 / By Alistair Driver

The NPA is encouraging pig producers to sign up to the European Pig Producers, a networking and socialising organisation for pig producers across Europe.

It is open to all pig producers of all ages and system types and represents a chance for producers to visit other European countries to see how their systems and production work.

EPP holds a Congress annually in different countries, usually a three-day event with seminars and tours of businesses related to pig production. This year, the NPA took a delegation to Seville for a fascinating trip that was enjoyed by all.

Membership costs to join EPP currently stand at €95 per person, which covers the Congress. NPA is again offering one year of subsidised membership for people who wish to sign up to the UK branch of the EPP this year. Membership is open to the allied industry, although the total number of allied members must not exceed more than 10% of total members

“We are looking for new members and hope to organise a EPP UK domestic trip too, and we are also looking to take a delegation to the EPP Congress next year, on a subsidised basis,” said NPA office manager Andrea Tranter.

‘We are also looking for a UK chairperson which would involve attending, either in person or virtually, three board meetings a year, and writing an annual report about the UK industry for an overall EPP report that is issued to all members. Costs and expenses of attending these meetings would be met by the UK EPP branch.

"As the chair of the UK branch, it would be at your discretion if you wanted to arrange events in this country for members."

NPA chief executive Lizzie Wilson said: “The many Congresses I have attended have been excellent – a great opportunity to network with like-minded European producers, very informative and good fun. I thoroughly recommend it.”
