It was opportunity to showcase the NPA manifesto and we were delighted to be joint by the Farming Minister, Mark Spencer, and Labour’s Shadow Farming Minister, Daniel Zeichner.

The APPG is run by the NPA, NFU, British Poultry Council and British Egg Industry Council and works to educate politicians about the key issues facing the sectors and support our champions in Parliament.

Jim Shannon MP, the APPG chair, opened proceedings before speeches from Spencer and Zeichner.

There was then an opportunity for the NPA, very ably represented by Joe Dewhirst and Sally Stockings, to discuss the challenges facing the industry with a variety of MPs and Peers, including William Hague and former Prime Minister, Liz Truss.

Speaking after the event, the NPA’s chief policy adviser, Charlie Dewhirst, said: “It was a fantastic turnout and shows the depth and breadth of support that our sectors are fortunate to have in Parliament. The reception was a great opportunity to discuss our General Election manifesto with politicians of all parties over a cup of coffee and a bacon sandwich.”
