Brexit, the market and more to be discussed at NPA North region meeting tonight

The North regional NPA meeting will take place in York tonight.

NPA-logoThe meeting will cover a range of topical issues at an important time for thge pig industry. 

The NPA team will provide updates on the association’s Brexit strategy, which was published earlier this month and forwarded to Defra Secretary Andrea Leadsom and International Trade Secretary Liam Fox.

There will be updates on the industry’s response to demands to reduce antibiotic usage, including antibiotic use recording and targets, as well as the ongoing problems posed by animal rights activists.

Also on the agenda will be the outcome of the NPA's industry summit, the latest on African swine fever and wild boar and an update on some key planning developments.

Regional NPA members will also hear a market update from AHDB Pork’s Stephen Howarth and Vikki Campbell.

Emma Bailey-Beech from AHDB Pork and Ramon Romero from Food Standards Agency will outline forthcoming changes to the British Pig Health Scheme and CCIR (inspection data).

The meeting will take place from 6.30pm until 9.30pm tonight (October 25), at Sandburn Hall, Scotchman Lane, Flaxton, York YO60 7RB. Tea, coffee and a hot buffet meal will be available on arrival at 6.30pm.

NPA chairman and North region chair Richard Lister said: "As always, the more people that attend these meetings the more everyone will get out of them by way of active discussion, so please do make the effort to come along."
