The newest member of the NPA’s team, Katie Jarvis, has started her role as a Senior Policy Adviser.
Katie formally joined at the end of October, replacing Chief Policy Adviser Rebecca Veale, who left the association after four years in mid-August.
Katie’s arrival takes the team back up to four, with Charlie Dewhirst promoted to the role of NPA Chief Policy Adviser.
Katie will have a varied brief, working across the sector’s policy areas, but will lead for NPA on pig health and welfare.
Katie had been working as an NFU county advisor in the South-West for the past few years and prior to that, worked at the NFU’s Brussels BAB office for five years.
Over her first few weeks, she will be embarking on a number of visits to prominent producer and allied businesses to familiarise herself with the industry.
Katie, who enjoyed a good relationship with the NPA during her time at the NFU, said she was ‘absolutely thrilled’ to be joining the team.
“I am really excited to be getting started. I have already got a good understanding of the pig sector from my previous roles, and I am now looking forward to meeting more people and learning more about this varied and interesting industry,” she said.
