Pilot scheme to encourage new entrants into farming

Entrepreneurs wanting to get into farming in England can apply now to take part in Defra’s New Entrants Support Scheme pilot. 

The pilot will support young businesses through the early stages of development, including developing a business idea pitching for land and finance.

It will be open to:

• Individuals with some farming experience, but not their own land-based business 
• individuals with 4 to 10 years’ experience running a land-based farming business 

Defra wants to recruit about 200 pilot participants in total. The recruitment process will start in December and the pilot will run until spring 2023.
