Please don't let up on your biosecurity!

We are urging all pig producers to be extra vigilant with your biosecurity over the festive period and into the New Year. 

We are hearing of rising incidences of some health issues on pig farms and the threat of African swine fever is ever-present.

It is, therefore, more important than ever that pig producers review all aspects of their biosecurity, from the movement of transport in and out of units and perimeter fencing to ensuring appropriate separation of clean, intermediate and dirty areas.

Clear signage and proper training of staff are also essential in helping to keep herds free of disease, both those circulating in the UK and those potentially brought in from elsewhere.

Producers are also advised to review your farm security at this time of year.
