RCVS issues new guidance on prescription-only medicines

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has issued new guidance to vets regarding the way that they can prescribe prescription-only veterinary medicines(POM-V) products to animals ‘Under their Care’.
This guidance came into effect on September 1.
"This may have some effect on the way that your vet can prescribe medicines to your animals especially antimicrobials," said Pig Veterinary Society president Gemma Thwaites.
"All vets will continue to give uninterrupted service to their clients and will discuss individual issues with them direct.
"The impact to assured farms with detailed veterinary health plans should be minimal but we wanted to make you aware of the changes that have been brought in by the Royal College."
