Rebecca heading for pastures new, after four years with NPA

23rd May 2023 / By Alistair Driver

NPA chief policy adviser chief Rebecca Veale is leaving the association to take up a new role with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health.

Rebecca Veale 2After four years with the NPA, Rebecca will move on in August to become Boehringer’s Senior Government Affairs Manager, with a focus on animal health.

The NPA is pleased to announce that Charlie Dewhirst, currently Senior Policy Adviser, will be promoted to the role of Chief Policy Adviser when Rebecca leaves.

We will be advertising shortly to replace Rebecca in the team, covering health and welfare specialist policy areas.

NPA chief executive Lizzie Wilson said she was sorry to see Rebecca leave, but said the new position represented a great opportunity to further develop her career.

Thanking Rebecca for her contribution to the NPA and ‘relentless support for our members’, she said: “Becca has been a hugely enthusiastic and committed member of the NPA team for the past four years, providing consistent knowledge and expertise on health and welfare specifically, but also many other policy areas, and most recently was instrumental in the contractual practice in the pig sector consultation workstream.

“Without her support and determination, I’m certain this vital area would not be as advanced and well aligned with what industry needs, as it is now.

"I am really pleased that Charlie is stepping up into the Chief Policy Adviser role – during his time with the NPA, he has already done a great deal for the industry, and his expertise will be increasingly important as we move towards the next general election. And we look forward to appointing a new member of the team as soon as possible.”
