Send us your #PimpedUpPigsInBlankets!
6th Dec 2019 / By Alistair Driver
The @GBPork Twitter feed, run by the NPA’s Andrea Vickers, is asking people to send in examples of ‘pimped up’ pigs in blankets in the run up to Christmas.
The idea of the #PimpedUpPigsInBlankets campaign is to highlight the innovative ways major retailers, butchers, farm shops and others are adapting and developing the Christmas classic to extend the appeal of Great British Pork to consumers.
“We want to see your fabulous #PimpedUpPigsInBlankets, so please send us photos of your finds, with a brief review if possible, or send us some for sampling by Friday December 13! You could even share your own recipes with us on Facebook and Twitter,” Andrea said.
Send pictures on Twitter by tagging @GBPork and using the hashtag #PimpedUpPigsInBlankets or email
Andrea added: “Pigs in Blankets are huge this year with all the retailers and even some of the high street food service providers pushing the boat out on their ranges and offerings. We have been really impressed with all their fresh and frozen Christmas offerings of British Pork and want to spread the word.”
NPA staff will be holding a blind taste test on Monday December 16 of the major retailers offerings and will be giving them all a score out of 10 based on appearance, texture, ratio of bacon to sausage and, of course, taste!
It’s a tough job but somebody’s got to do it.
Did you know?... December 5 was #NationalPigsInBlanketsday, an initiative we thoroughly approve of created by award-winning butcher, Farmison & Co as part of their Christmas meat range.
