Young NPA visits Dutch HyCare facility

16th Oct 2017 / By Alistair Driver

A group of Young NPA members is visiting the Netherlands today to get a close up view of the HyCare approach to pig health and hygiene.

NPA senior policy advisors Georgina Crayford and Ed Barker have accompanied a group of four young pig producers on the day-trip to Eindhoven to visit livestock company MS Schippers' HyCare facility.

The HyCare concept is a dedicated approach to unit hygeine with the aim of improving pig health, reducing use of antibiotics and reducing stress. The group is keen to find our what lessons we can learn in the UK, ahead of the announcment of new long-term antibiotic targets later this month.

Meanwhile, NPA chief executive Zoe Davies was lunching in very exclusive company today. Zoe has been invited to the presitigious 'Woman of the Year' lunch at the InterContinental Hotel, on Park Lane in London. She will join over 400 women from all walks of life at the event as a ‘2017 Woman of Achievement’, in recognition of her fantastic work for the pig industry.

Previous attendees have included: Eimear McBride, Ellen MacArthur, Fern Britton, Dame Harriet Walter, Dame Jacqueline Wilson, Julie Walters, Lindsay Lohan, Lulu, Mel Giedroyc, Nadiya Hussein, Nicole Kidman, Professor Mary Beard, Sally Lindsay and Theresa May.

A very deserved honour (even if Zoe is slightly embarrassed by the whole thing)!
