England declared Avian Flu Prevention Zone - what the restrictions mean for pigs

An Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) has been declared across the whole of England to mitigate the risk of the disease spreading, the UK’s Chief Veterinary Officer Christine Middlemiss confirmed on Wednesday. 

This means it is a legal requirement for all bird keepers to follow strict biosecurity measures. You can read more HERE

This follows a number of confirmed outbreaks across the country. There is understandable concern among pig producers about how the restrictions put in place could affect pig movements.
