Tulip director Mark Haighton joins AHDB Pork board

Tulip director Mark Haighton has been appointed to AHDB's Pork sector board as a processor member.

Mark HaightonMr Haighton, who will take serve for a three-year term, is Pig Supply Chain Director of Tulip, leading a team that works closely with all elements of the British pigmeat supply chain including farmers, hauliers, abattoirs, customers and external bodies like the Food Standards Agency.

He has worked in the UK pig processing sector since 1998 when he started at the Geo Adams & Sons Ltd abattoir in Spalding initially as a livestock buyer before the company was bought out by Tulip. Since 2010 he has also sat on the Red Tractor Pig Sector board.

AHDB Pork Board chairman Mike Sheldon said: “Mark is well known to many in the pig industry, which he has served with great success for many years already.

“He brings to the board tremendous experience in the interface between pig producer and processor, and is brimming with ideas to help AHDB continue to deliver excellent value for money to the levy-payer. We very much look forward to welcoming him.”
