AHDB looking to recruit new pork sector chair

15th Dec 2022 / By Alistair Driver

AHDB is advertising for a new chair of its pork sector council, to replace Mike Sheldon, who steps down in March after six years in the role.

The levy body is also looking for a chair for its cereals & oilseeds sectors. Both successful candidates will sit on the AHDB board.

The closing date for applications is midday, Friday January 6, 2023. Details and application packs are available HERE.

Board members will receive a non-pensionable salary of £ £23,616 per annum, based on a time commitment of up to 72 days per year, they can also claim reasonable travel expenses.

The sector chairs will work closely with the AHDB chairman, CEO and leadership team to prioritise delivering the sector strategies for their sectors, which were launched in November as part of AHDB’s Delivering the Future of Farming programme.

Appointments to the AHDB board are made by the Defra Secretary of State and Ministers in devolved administrations and will commence on April 1, 2023, for an initial period of three years. A further appointment of up to three years may be made, subject to satisfactory performance assessment and at the discretion of Ministers.

Mr Sheldon was appointed to the role in 2017 and will step down having served the maximum two three-year terms.
