ASF in Germany, a timely reminder
19th Jul 2021 / By Rebecca Veale
The first cases of ASF in domestic pigs confirmed in Germany last week is a timely reminder to all producers that the disease isn’t far from our shores and we need to be as prepared as possible.
We put together a guide for members last year which includes all the relevant information on ASF, we’ve also put together a contingency plan template for notifiable disease and some guidance to help producers complete it.
The contingency plan is designed for you to bring together the information you may need and to consider what you would do if you had a disease outbreak on your unit, if you were a traced premises or if you were in a zone.
As NPA we have a contingency plan for how the team will respond in a notifiable disease outbreak and we will be testing this during the Government’s planned ASF simulation exercise, Exercise Holly. We will review our NPA contingency plan following the exercise to ensure we’re as prepared as we can be also.
All the info for members is in the members area of the website.
