The RUMA alliance has welcomed what it said it was recognition from two EU agencies that UK farming was on the right track to address the antimicrobial challenge.
In a joint opinion on EU measures to reduce antimicrobial use in animals, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recognised that there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution to the problem.
RUMA chair Gwyn Jones said it was positive that the two agencies acknowledged different situations required different approaches, with the main recommendations also suggesting UK farming was on the right track.
