4th Apr 2024 / By Alistair Driver

Glen Nimmo has been appointed as the new chair of the AHDB Pork Sector Council, Defra has announced.

Glen NimmoMr Nimmo has previously worked in a family-run multi-site integrated pork processing business, covering slaughter, primal processing and retail packing.

Replacing Mike Sheldon, who stood down from the role at the end of March, he will serve from three years from April 10.

He is one of two new appointments to the main AHDB Board, alongside Graeme Jack, who brings more than 30 years of experience in the agri-food sector, including as communications director for Müller UK & Ireland.

Nicholas Saphir, AHDB Chair, said: “I am delighted with the appointment of Glen and Graeme whose combined industry experience will add further value to our skill-based Board. Their experience as business leaders will help us to continue delivering key services and value for money for our levy payers.”

These appointments were made by Defra Ministers, with the approval of Ministers in the Scottish Government, Welsh Government, and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs in Northern Ireland.

They were made in accordance with the Governance Code on Public Appointments published by the Cabinet Office. All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.
