Northern Ireland pig herd up by 8%

The total pig herd in Northern Ireland increased by 8% in the year to June, according to provisional June census results.
The figures from the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) show overall numbers increased to 646,600 head,
Every pig category recorded growth, although an increase of 8% in the number of pigs for slaughter contributed most to the overall rise.
